BEFORE YOU ORDER

Measure the Opening, Not the Existing Door

Measurements should be taken from the structural garage opening. Do not measure the existing garage door itself.

Measure in millimetres and, where possible, take each measurement in more than one position to identify any variation in the opening.

Important

Final installation measurements should be confirmed before a custom-size door is manufactured.

MEASUREMENT GUIDE

The Four Measurements We Need

Provide these measurements when requesting a garage door quotation.

01 A — Opening Width

Measure the clear width of the garage opening from the left side of the opening to the right side.

Measure across the top, middle and bottom where possible.
02 B — Opening Height

Measure from the finished floor level vertically to the underside of the lintel.

Measure on both sides of the opening.
03 C — Side Room

Measure the available wall space beside the opening on both the left and right sides.

This space is required for tracks and installation hardware.
04 D — Headroom

Measure from the underside of the lintel to the ceiling or the lowest obstruction above the opening.

Check for beams, pipes, lights or other obstructions.
BEFORE INSTALLATION

Also Check These Areas

Ceiling Space

Make sure there is sufficient clear space inside the garage for horizontal tracks and the garage door motor.

Side Walls

Confirm that the areas beside the opening are clear and suitable for fixing the vertical tracks.

Finished Floor Level

Measure from the final floor height where possible, particularly on new builds or renovation projects.

Obstructions

Take note of pipes, beams, lights, cupboards or other items that may interfere with the garage door system.

GARAGE DOOR AUTOMATION

Plan the Motor Plug Point

If you are preparing the garage before installation, we recommend providing a standard 3-pin plug point on the ceiling, approximately 3 metres back from the garage door opening.

This allows the garage door motor to be connected neatly without visible extension cables running along the walls or ceiling.

3-Pin Plug Point Approximately 3m from opening
